Emily's Story & Mission
Fighting for every parrot who never got a second chance- and for every human who’s ready to give them one.

I have had parrots for as long as I can remember. For me, growing up with birds was just apart of life! It wasn’t until I rescued my first conure as a teenager that everything changed. Having this new animal in my life, completely reliant on me and my ability to care for it- drove me to research what better parrot care looked like. What was training for a bird? What did parrots eat other than seed? How did I create a trusting bond with this fearful bird, and how do I stop them from chewing the door trims now that we’re friends?
I began my training journey learning from individuals on YouTube and Instagram. Some of these behavior solutions that were circulated online were kind of rooted in accurate behavior science, but many of them failed all together or created new issues for me and my parrot. It wasn’t until my flock grew and my passion for learning more, with it- that I looked deeper for better science based information. When I found the corner of the internet that held The Budgie Academy by Amy Zhao and other biology rooted behavior science, I learned more practical information about parrots and behavior science than I ever had.

I’ve traveled and worked in parrot sanctuaries, handled and worked with birds of prey, and explored the zoological field. Through it all, one truth became clear: we need educators who can bridge the gap between Applied Behavior Analysis and real-world solutions for shaping behavior with positive reinforcement. Since then, I’ve rededicated my time to bridge that gap for parrot owners everywhere who are struggling.
My experiences and research continue to shape how I work with birds- and how I educate others about them. My primary focus is helping companion parrot owners solve behavior problems in their homes, keeping parrots from being surrendered to overcrowded rescues and sanctuaries, while helping desperate owners find peace and one-ness with their bird(s) again.
Alongside this, I know that the information that I bring forward with this site also helps;
the first time bird owner who’s parrot is afraid of them,
the young bird person who finds themself oversaturated with conflicting information online,
the parrot owner who’s tried what is preached but is still having issues,
the person who has a great relationship with their bird- but the bird has these few behaviors that just drive them nuts.
The list goes on, and it will forever. There will always, always, be a need for science based parrot behavior solutions. And the number of resources out there are growing! As is the number of parrots landing as pets in peoples homes, porches, garages, backyards, and backrooms. My hope is that my knowledge compiled into a free resource will help people the way that I needed when I was up and coming with my birds- struggling with what information was readily available to me.
