My name is Emily Roe,
I’ve thrown myself into the study of parrot behavior and training for as long as I can remember. Over the last twelve years, I’ve struggled as a parrot owner with the information available online. In my pursuit of more solid and reliable parrot care, briefly working in the zoo industry, and training to be a parrot behavior consultant- I gathered amazing behavior science from many individuals along the way. What I’ve learnt radically reshapes how we approach living with parrots in captivity. My priority is making this knowledge accessible to others, and as healing for you and your birds as it has been for me and mine.

I want to assist in ushering in a new era of companion parrot care. There are many problem behavior solutions out there, however the vast majority are not rooted in Positive Reinforcement techniques, nor do they offer practical solutions to living with parrots in our homes. My goal is to help others learn science based positive reinforcement techniques that can be utilized to guide your parrot’s behavior into appropriate outlets.
Parrots are a study of one, and so the environment and history of a bird must be considered when creating a tailored behavior modification plan. However, there are blanket solutions and concepts that you can tweak and tailor to fit your situation. My hope is to teach you these concepts, and solutions, and empower you to tailor them to your own home layout and situation.

Maybe your parrot doesn’t step up consistently, ignores cues, or shows little interest in interacting with their toys — missing out on mental stimulation and engagement.

The solutions I post and preach about are rooted in decades of research, case studies, and tested methods. The knowledge I possess has been underrepresented and buried among companion parrot owners for years.
